About Taipei Mass Rapid Transportation (Taipei MRT)

With a rapid growth in population and vehicles causing various traffic issues in great Taipei area, the developments of the Taipei MRT are to solute long-existing traffic problems and revitalize proper functioning of the capital city. The Taipei MRT features nine lines including Bannan, Danshui, Muzha, Neihu, Nangang, Tucheng, Xiaonanmen, Xindian, and Zhonghe Lines. These metro lines have a total of 82 stations, including the two main transfer stations: Taipei Main Station and Zhongxiao Fuxing Station. The Taipei MRT together with other public transportations is to provide all residents and visitors with a comprehensive and convenient Taipei.

Types of Tickets

1. IC Single Journey Ticket

The IC Single Journey Tickets are for passengers traveling one-way trips.

2. EasyCard (Regular Card)

EasyCards are for passengers that take multiple trips.
(Passengers may receive a 20% discount when taking one-way MRT trips.)
EasyCard Ticket Price: twd500 for first-time purchase. (Include a deposit of TWD 100 and a usable balance of TWD 400.)

**Note: Passengers with EasyCard may receive a discount when transferring from Taipei MRT System to Taipei buses or vice-versa within one hour.

3. One-day Pass

Passengers receive unlimited trips during the day of using the One-day Pass.
One-Day Pass Ticket Price: twd200 per card, including a deposit of TWD 50. (Unused cards may be refunded or returned.)

**Note: The card is not rechargeable, passengers may receive a refund of deposit TWD 50 when return cards to information counters at the MRT Stations within three days of the activation date.

4. Group Tickets

a. Groups of 10 passengers or more may receive a 20% discount on one-way tickets.
b. Groups of 40 passengers or more may receive a 30% discount on one-way tickets.
Passengers traveling by Group Tickets must enter and exit the MRT stations together through the service gate by the Information Counter. In addition, Group tickets are only usable on the day of purchase, and may not be refunded.

How to Purchase

Self-service ticket vending machines are available at every MRT station. Passengers may also purchase tickets from the Information Counter by the service gate.
