Lin Family Garden

Located in Banciao, New Taipei City (Taipei County), Lin Family Garden is a Tier-Second historical site of Taiwan. With the success of business in rice, tea and camphor, the Lin Family was one of the most influential and powerful families in Taiwan. It was said that the establishment of this beautiful garden spent twice of the amount of money on establishing Old Taipei City. The Lin Family Garden was built with fine carvings and sculptures, it is a significant site representing Taiwan horticulture and gardening. This beautiful garden was under constructions for several years for detailed works and designs, it was not fully established until 1893.

Lin Family Garden is now open to publics for tourism and historical explorations. For entering Lin Family Garden, visitors have to purchase tickets at ticketing booth and enter through the entrance beside. The ticket booth does not belong to one of the historical architectures of Lin Garden Family. In old days, the real entrance to the garden is through “Bai Hua Tin”, or through the small gate next to restroom. You might wonder why the entrance was built in a small scale. The reason for this was because Lin Family Garden was meant to be a private garden for Lin Family members, the small door was to obtain privacy.

The Lin Family was the richest family in Taiwan with various developments in economies and politics. Visit this grand garden to undergo an experience of this influential family.

    By Car :
    1. National number 1 highway(國道一號), exit Wugu offramp(五股交流道), connect to Tai 2 route(台2線), turn right on Siyuan Rd(思源路), towards Dahan bridge(大漢橋), turn right on Wenhua Rd(文化路), along Minchuan Rd(民權路), Gonguan Rd(公館路) and Ximen Street(西門街) to reach.

    2. National number 2 highway, exit Banciao offramp, along Wenhua Rd(文化路), along Minchuan Rd(民權路), Gonguan Rd(公館路) and Ximen Street(西門街) to reach.

    By Bus :
    1. From Taipei City, take bus route 264, 307, 701, 702 to Lin Family Garden stop(林家花園站) to reach.

    By Train :
    1. Exit New Banciao Station(板橋新站), walk along Ximen Street(西門街) to reach.

    By MRT :
    1. Take MRT Bannan line(板南線捷運), exit Xinpu station number 1 exit(新埔站出1號出口), transfer to bus route Blue 16(藍16) to reach.
