As the central location of Taiwan, Taichung is a city developed with the growth of traffic between north and south. The High Speed Rail makes it possible to travel from Taichung to Taipei or Kaohsiung in less than 1 hour, and the Taiwan Railway Administration system still offers transportation for commuters.
Taichung has the third large port in Taiwan and offers shipping routes all over the world. Airport in Taichung provides direct flights to Hong Kong and Okinawa, and regular flights of domestic lines. You can cross the straits to Hong Kong in about one hour, as the charter flight to main land China would also be possible.
