Taroko National Park is one the most internationally renowned Taiwan tourist attractions of eastern Taiwan with a total area of 92,000 hectares across Hualien County, Nantou County and Taichung City. Visitors may visit this amazing park in short rides from downtown Hualien City. Established in 1986, this fabulous Taiwan National Park is surrounded by mountains on 3 sides, facing the Pacific Ocean to the east, Mt. Hehuan Peaks to the west, Mt. Nanhu Peaks to the north, and Mt. Chilai Peaks to the south offering tremendous natural sceneries. The park features a wide array of phenomenal aspects include Baiyang Waterfalls, Buluowan, Cingshui Cliff, Shakadang River, Swallow Grottoes (Yanzikou), and Tunnel of Nine Turns providing spectacular topographic wonders. The marble canyons of the Taroko Gorge are narrow in U-shape formed by the erosion of marble by the Liwu River. The spectacular landscapes of lofty mountains, cliffs, lakes, waterfalls, as well as primitive biological resources are heavenly treasures of Taiwan.

Taroko National Park does not only have mesmerizing landscapes but also a diverse species of animals, plants, and birds, where visitors may spot many Taiwan mammals, also vegetations such as broadleaved forests, mixed broadleaved, and coniferous forests, In addition, 90% of Taiwan’s resident bird species and over half of the butterfly species can be found in the park. The natural marvels make Taroko one of Asia's most spectacular sights, which should not be missed during one’s Taiwan travel.

No. 5 National Highway: From Nangang Interchange (南港交流道) of No. 3 National Highway (國道3號/北二高) connect to No. 5 National Highway (國道5號/北宜高速公路) -> Xueishan Tunnel (雪山隧道) -> Suao Interchange (蘇澳交流道) -> No. 9 Provincial Highway (台9號) -> No. 8 Provincial Highway (台8線) -> Taroko National Park (太魯閣國家公園)

By Bus:
Visitors may take direct Hualien Bus (花蓮客運) to Taroko National Park (太魯閣國家公園). Hualien Bus is available next to the Hualien Train Station (花蓮火車站). It takes about an hour ride from the Hualien Train Station to Taroko National Park.
