Alishan Forest Recreation Area

Alishan Forest Recreation Area is located at the end of Alishan forest railway. It is the most famous scenic spot in Alishan. Alishan’s climate does not have that much difference between four seasons. It’s average temperature is about 10 degree Celsius which makes Alishan a great place to get away from Taiwan’s hot summer.

Alishan Forest Recreation Area has the largest wood made train station in Taiwan which established in 2007. There is an observatory in front of the train station. Therefore once you arrive in Alishan Forest Recreation Area you can see the famous sea of clouds and depends on the time you may see many other breathtaking views such as sunglow and sunset. You can also see the cliff of Ta Mountain which is clearly layer by layer.

Since the Alishan road was open in 1982, Alishan Forest Recreation Area has become a very popular scenic spot for Alishan tourism. Alishan Forest Recreation is a great place for bird watching. The main bird watching trail is the annularity path in the recreation area. It is a four kilometers long path surrounded forest. Also many Alishan hotels and restaurants were started to establish which make this area a popular shopping district.

The recreation area is divided into two parts the west side is Ciyun temple and the east side is the divine trees area. There are many places you can go in Alishan Forest Recreation Area, so you might want to stay here for couple days. You can stay in one of the Alishan hotels.
