(Taipei) Beautiful beach and duty free store all in Taipei
Have you ever imagined about relax and enjoyed the sunshine in the busy Taipei city? This summer you will get the chance to experience that amazing feeling because Taipei city government is setting up an artificial sandy beach which is 413 meters square on the city hall square for people to relax during a busy day or have fun on the weekend.

The trial of the artificial beach will start from the end of June to November. During the trial the beach will open 24 hours a day for free. The beach will provide parasols, chairs and wash areas which enhance the beach ambiance. You can relax on the beach and enjoy the sunshine while look up at the spectacular 101 building. It also welcomes children to come play with sand. Organizations can hold activities on the beach. After they apply for it they only have to pay the cleaning fees. In order for this beach to have a meaningful name Taipei city government is holding a beach naming competition and everyone is welcome to attend.

Some residents are worry about the sandy wind problem, but there will be no problem because many climate experts have tested the wind speed for half year and they found out that even during the strongest wind season there will not be any sandy wind problem. If typhoon comes they will cover the beach with plastic canvas. Also the sand can drain the water very well, so it would not cause any bad smell.

Not only Taipei city government, but also Taipei 101 is making some progress. Since lots of Chinese visitors are coming to Taiwan Taipei 101 will cooperate with duty free stores in order to create more business opportunities. 101 building will set up a duty free area inside its shopping center. The sell would be focus on quality goods such as cosmetics, watches, jewelries and Taiwanese keepsakes. Besides 101, SOGO is also negotiating with duty free stores.
