Fulong International Sand Sculpture Festival, organized by the Tourism Bureau’s Northeast and Yilan Coast National Scenic Area Administration, is one of Taiwan’s two major international sand sculpture events that attracts thousands of visitors each year. Since 2008, Fulong International Sand Sculpture Festival 2013 is the 6th consecutive year event, professional and amateur sand sculptors from different parts of the world gather for this 2 months long event, exhibition and competition.

2013 Fulong International Sand Sculpture Festival has invited 16 amateur sand sculptors from Japan, the Netherlands, Mexico, Spain, Ireland, Canada, as well as more than 20 local professionals for as many as 77 sculptures are expected to be built. Something new to this year’s event, where one may find sculptures related to the world and Taiwan’s most popular celebrities and movies include “Life of Pi”, “Psy” and “David Loman”, as well as interesting sculptures such as Japanese kite by Japanese sculptor- Toshihiko Hosaka, and snowmen by Canadian sculptor- Jonathan Bouchard .
