2013 Taoyuan Longtan Dragon Boat Festival is to be held on 2013/6/11 & 6/12 at Longtan Pond, comprised of various events such as Dragon Boat Championship, funfair, Lion Dance Contest, Hakka musical performances, and fireworks.

The highlight of Taoyuan Longtan Dragon Boat Festival, Taoyuan Mayor Cup Dragon Boat will be held at the Longtan Pond on June 11th and 12th. It is the biggest dragon boat competition in northern Taiwan; there will be 78 teams join the contest. The competition will start at 9 o’clock in the morning on both days, and the championship game will be in the afternoon on the day of the Dragon Boat Festival. It draws tens of thousands of spectators to cheer for the team they support every year.

In addition to the dragon boat race, there are various performances and events during the festival, including lion dance contest, Hakka musical performances, Hakka gourmet, local agriculture products sale and fireworks at night. The Lion Dance Contest in Longtan is performed over the water. The stilts are set in the water and all the stunts and moves should be completed on the stilts. This horeographed, heart-thumping and exciting lion dance battle is one of the event that you do not want to miss. Moreover, there is a Hakka musical play that tells the legend and tale of the Longtan Pond. The point of the festival is to show and convey the traditional events and local culture to public as Taoyuan County is a county with a large population of Hakka people.

Take train to Zhongli Train Station -> Transfer to Hsinchu Bus No. 5620, 5634, 5653, or 5671 -> Get off at Longtan Pond stop

Take Taoyuan Bus No. 701 to Longtan bus station -> Longtan Pond

By HSR:
Take HSR to Taiyuan HSR Station -> Bus No. 170 or 5087 to Zhongli Train Station -> Transfer to Hsinchu Bus No. 5620, 5634, 5653, or 5671 or Taoyuan Bus No. 701 -> Get off at Longtan Pond stop
