Taiwan Double Ten National Celebration
In Taiwan, October 10th is Taiwan’s birthday and is known as the Double Ten National Day (National Celebration Day). On October 10th, 1911, the Wuchang Uprising started the Xinhan Revolution that led to the end of the Qing dynasty (the last dynasty) and the establishment of the Republic of China (ROC). Every year, a grand celebration is held in front of the Office of the President on October 10th. The celebrations in the past years include soldier parades and performances, weapons and battle vehicle parades, and air force performances. The rise of the Taiwanese flag mark the beginning of the celebration and the public celebrates the birthday of Taiwan by singing the National Anthem. As the protectors of Taiwan, the army, navy, and air force take turns making impressive entrances and parades. There are also firework shows and music performances. This year, there will also be performances from the Taiwan Department of National Defense, as well as a special parachute performance. It is said that one of the parachute performer will attempt to jump from Taipei 101 to the Office of the President during the celebration.
