Munich Oktoberfest

Traced back to 1810, Munich’s first ever “Oktoberfest” was originally to celebrate a royal wedding. Horse races, various culinary delights were abundantly presented at the wedding and the most gorgeous part is the hilarious beer gathering.

From 1810 on, people have looked forward to the big event of Munich Beer Festival annually. Munich’s Oktoberfest, the largest festival worldwide, has always attracted amounts of local citizens and foreign tourists to enjoy the fresh and cool beer except the destructive catastrophes like war and the outbreak of epidemics. Although it is called Munich’s Oktoberfest, the festival actually falls in September under the joyful and comfortable weather.

The grand festival includes a variety of amusements, such as festival parades, roller coasters, live brass bands, circus appearances and so on.

The ceremonial opening takes place at noon. Guests, staff, brass bands, decorated horses, various ornaments and happy parades fully spread everywhere at the festival. At the end of the parade, it is the peak of the hilarious time that the mayor taps the first keg of beer and shouts to the crowd, “o’zapft is!”

You have to prepare good nerves and a solid stomach to survive the 16-day festival of intensive partying and drinking.

Cheers for Oktoberfest!
